Aviangit is in closed alpha
After a few months of building in the background, Aviangit is now in closed alpha. Here's a quick overview of what's in, what's next, and why we're building this in the first place.
Why another Git host?
Most Git hosting platforms are US-based. That's fine for a lot of people, but for developers and teams who care about where their code lives - whether for compliance, personal preference, or just principle - the options are limited.
Aviangit is built in the Netherlands, hosted in Germany, under European data protection law. No grey areas, no data transfers to jurisdictions you didn't ask for. Your repositories live where you'd expect them to.
What's working today
The core of what makes a Git host useful is already there:
- Repository hosting: push, pull, clone, all the basics work
- Branch and file browsing: navigate your repo tree, view files, switch branches
- Commit history: browse the full log for any branch
It's not flashy, but it's solid. The foundation is what matters at this stage.
What's coming
The next phase is collaboration; pull requests, issues, forks, and access control. These are the features that turn a personal Git host into something you can actually work with a team on. We're building them carefully rather than quickly.
Try it out
Aviangit is invite-only for now. If you'd like early access, you can join the waitlist on the home page and we'll reach out when a spot opens up.
